Hello, I'm Gavin Conlan, an award-winning wedding photographer based in Essex with more than 20 years of professional photography experience. I specialise in timeless, romantic wedding photography that combines authentic storytelling with expert guidance, helping couples look and feel their absolute best in front of the camera.
My Photography Journey
My journey into photography began unexpectedly in the winter of 2002. At the time, I was working for the British Government's video production unit when we suddenly found ourselves without a photographer for an important event. I was asked to step in at short notice and, to my surprise, everything clicked.
I captured a series of images that received an overwhelmingly positive response from the attendees. From that moment, I realised that photography was more than a passion – it was the career I wanted to pursue.
During my 11 years working in Government, I had the privilege of photographing Prime Ministers, members of the British Royal Family, overseas royalty, actors, and sporting stars. One of the highlights was touring the Middle East with the Red Arrows and photographing the celebratory party for Team GB following the 2012 London Olympics.
Photography has also taken me around the world, with assignments and experiences across China, the USA, Hong Kong, Japan, the UAE, Bahrain, Spain, Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, Greece, India, Vietnam, Portugal, Lanzarote, Malaysia, and beyond.
In March 2013, after 11 years of Government service, I made the leap into full-time wedding photography. It has been an incredibly rewarding career, and I deliberately limit the number of weddings I photograph each year so that I can give every couple my full attention, creativity, and energy.
From our first consultation through to photographing your wedding, carefully editing your images in my signature style, and delivering them in a bespoke presentation box, I personally oversee every stage of the process. I also take great pride in designing and creating your wedding album, ensuring it becomes a beautiful and timeless keepsake of your day.
My Approach to Wedding Photography
My photographs are natural, relaxed, and full of genuine emotion, but I don't simply leave everything to chance. With more than two decades of experience, I use subtle direction, expert posing, and careful attention to detail to ensure every couple looks and feels their best.
From body positioning and expressions to lighting and composition, every image is thoughtfully crafted while retaining an authentic and effortless feel. My aim is to give you photographs that look natural while benefiting from the experience and expertise behind the camera.

Metal Detectorist: I love exploring the outdoors and discovering hidden treasures with my metal detector.

Model Photography Holidays: Alongside my girlfriend, I organise and host photography holidays in the UK and Europe, helping photographers learn, create, and connect with others.
