David J Severn is a four-time Licentiateship holder, with qualifications covering Weddings & Portraits, Sport, Wildlife, and Fashion & Glamour. He has also been awarded a Distinction from The Photographic Alliance, an Excellence from Photographic de Internationale, and the APAGB for services to photography.
With experience photographing a wide variety of subjects and styles, David has built a strong foundation in photography and continues to develop his skills through regular professional development. Following a period of ill health from which he has recovered well, David is now concentrating on the style of imagery showcased on this website, while also providing photography services, tuition, events, and workshops.
His ongoing professional development includes monthly sessions with his mentor and weekly evaluation of his images, ensuring that he continues to learn, experiment, and refine his approach to photography.
David believes photography should be enjoyable. While many people take photographs as a hobby, spending hours editing images at a computer can sometimes take away from that enjoyment. His approach is to make the image-taking process as simple, creative, and enjoyable as possible.
Many of the images featured on this website have required little or no manipulation, allowing the creativity to happen in-camera. This approach led to David being nominated for In-Camera Artistry Photographer of the Year, narrowly missing out after the final decision came down to a very close vote.
David's wife, Pamela, has been involved with the studio for many years. Her creative eye, use of colour, and artistic approach make them a great team.
Pamela has a background in writing and a passion for antiques and clothing. She runs online stores and also has a presence within an antique dealers' centre, bringing her own creativity and interests to the studio and their photography projects.
Every shoot is tailored to the individual client, with the aim of creating a photography experience that reflects their ideas and requirements. Our pricing guide provides a starting point for a basic shoot, but bespoke packages can be created to suit each client's needs.
