Hello, I’m Merv from Merv Spencer Photography. I’m a professional photographer based in Derbyshire, specialising in portrait photography and photo restoration, with more than 30 years of experience within the photographic industry.
I love every aspect of photography, from creating fresh and creative ideas in the studio to heading out on location to capture natural and memorable portraits. Whether you’re looking for photographs of yourself, a loved one, your family, or even your pets, I aim to create images that you will treasure.
Before joining Field Photographic in July 2000, I was based at home in Ripley, Derbyshire, working under the name of Video-graph Photographers, a business I ran alongside my wife, Carol.
Working from a dedicated studio has allowed us to develop a professional brand that we are extremely proud of, with a strong focus on quality throughout every part of the photography experience – from the images we create to the products used to bring those photographs to life.
Every client is an individual, with their own ideas, preferences, and requirements. I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach, which is why I take the time to understand what you want and tailor the photography experience to suit you.

I love creating portraits, whether in my professional photography studio or on location using the surrounding scenery. Sessions can be for individuals, couples, families, or pets, with a relaxed approach designed to create natural and memorable images.
Portrait sessions can be booked online and, once your photographs have been captured, your images will be uploaded to a secure client gallery where you can view and select your favourites.
Do you have a collection of old photographs that are damaged, faded, torn, or almost beyond recognition? I specialise in photo restoration and digital manipulation, helping to bring treasured memories back to life.
Using a range of techniques in Adobe Photoshop, I can repair, restore, colourise, and recreate photographs where necessary. Restored images can be supplied digitally or professionally printed, giving you the opportunity to enjoy and preserve those memories once again.
Although I have many years of experience and have become well known for my wedding photography, I have now stepped away from photographing weddings myself and am concentrating on environmental portraiture and photo restoration.
