One of the things I love about photography is that it allows me to do slightly crazy things at times. For 15 years of my working life I was a police officer and not much scope in that role to do really crazy stuff or at least not in a way that doesn't upset a lot of people! Now that I'm a full-time creative it gives me free reign to explore my own head and try out all manner of ideas in terms of lighting and style.

At least that's what I thought would be the case when I turned full-time. Unfortunately earning a living gets in the way at times.

Endless streams of family shoots and weddings can stifle your creativity and cause you to fall out of love with photography.

That's why very early in my career I made a deal with myself to do a shoot at least once a month purely for the joy of taking pictures. To try new things and have fun!
