Hi, I'm Marcus 👋, a photographer based in Birmingham, West Midlands, England, available for photography services across the surrounding areas.

My passion for photography began as a young boy, armed with a 35mm Flash Fujika camera and a love for creating miniature worlds. I photographed my finished model kits and built dramatic scenes with Airfix soldiers, experimenting with low angles, smoke and effects to bring my creations to life. Those early experiments sparked a fascination with storytelling through images that has continued ever since.
As a professional photographer, I initially specialised in theatre and film photography, capturing production images, rehearsal photography and behind-the-scenes moments. More than 20 years later, I still love photographing the creative process and the unique atmosphere of film and theatre sets.
My work has also taken me into portrait and fine art photography, where I am fascinated by the human form and the stories people tell through their expressions and personalities. I believe real people, enthusiasm and openness create the most compelling images, and I am always grateful to those who collaborate with me creatively.
Photography continues to evolve for me, with every project offering new challenges and opportunities to learn. While some may call it a job, I see it as a privilege to spend my time creating images and working with inspiring people.
Photography has been part of a varied creative career. Before becoming a professional photographer, I worked as a BBC radio presenter, musician, actor and theatre director. It was my involvement in theatre that brought me back to my childhood love of photography.
Seeing actors paying high prices for publicity headshots inspired me to train as a photographer myself. Balancing study alongside professional theatre work, I developed the skills needed to create the theatrical and film photography that remains a central part of my work today.
